Girls Night !

Friday night my sister in law,Lauren ((Best Friend)) and I,had girls night in at my house ! They were in town for Christmas and so when the boys went to bed she came over and brought pizza and we watched The Holiday.It's been awhile since I had girls night in.I would always have it when we lived overseas in Guam.My friend Jennifer and I would always watch movies and order chinese and stay up late and talk.So it was really nice to relax and spend time with Lauren and laugh and talk all night.I think we should do this often :) I had a lot of fun Lauren !!

Festive Family Fun

We were able to attend my aunts Christmas Eve party last night.I brought the boys their gift up there to open since it's our tradition to open one small gift the night before.They both got trains and Ashton loved his Spencer !

The night was going well and then Austin started getting fussy...and warm ((Uh-oh)) He ended up falling asleep on my shoulder while we were playing the white elephant game and he must have been zonked out good because there were about 25 of us and they were loud ! When he woke up,the familiar rosey red cheeks had arrived and the wet sounding cough followed by a runny nose.The day I get one better,the other gets it So we packed up and headed home so I could get them to bed and checked his temp when we got there-102.8...poor little guy ! Oh by the way,I went away with a $10 Starbucks card for my gift...thanks to a little help from my SIL Lauren ;)

Austin's also been walking more so before we left,I stopped to take a picture of him walking to my dad like such a big boy !

My parents were having brunch this morning at their house and my mom is also sick...and now I think I feel a sore throat coming on...but that's how it always starts out when the kids get sick.If we can get over it all before New Years,that will be great ! We did go over and have some brunch and Austin liked the kiche Jenesia made...yum-o ! As I type,the boys are both napping before we head back over there to open presents with my family.So I'm off to clean up the house !

Twas The Night Before Christmas...

It's 3hrs before my aunts Christmas Eve party and folks...I do believe we're going to make it ! Ashton woke up this morning with absolutely no fever and has stayed fever free ! How awesome is that to be feeling better right on Christmas Eve !? I do think Austin has picked up his cough but it's small and no fever in him,so we're crossing our fingers ! My dad's side of the family that is going to be at the party,we never see but only at this time of year at my aunts.Most of them have never even met Austin and they haven't seen Ashton in about 4yrs...I'm excited to go and visit with my cousins,eat good food and play the ever so popular game where you can steal presents...HA !

I'm in the process of trying to get the boys to nap and get some rest before the party.I'm having success with Austin,but I think I'm just getting "rest" time out of Ashton,but hey that's OK too.While they are doing that,I took a break to blog,cleaning the house,washing the dishes,need to get my shower and wrap their Christmas Eve present to unwrap up there.But as I sat here on this Christmas Eve day,with I guess a pleasant temperature of 67 degrees...with the sun streaming through the blinds here in the living room listening to Ave Maria over Austin's monitor...I just thought of my husband and how much we're going to miss him this year through the holiday season.I did inform Ashton that he would be able to be here for fireworks and his expression was just simply priceless.We love and miss you Luke...see you soon !

All Hearts Come Home for Christmas...

We had our family Christmas last Thursday morning so Luke could be here and watch the boys open everything.We just weren't sure when he would be able to come home again...good thing because tomorrow is Christmas Eve and he won't be home until Monday morning.So Ashton and I had a little talk with Santa ;) We asked if he could come early so daddy could be here.He was so excited that morning ! He came into our room and said "mama I think Santa came,there's presents under the tree" So we all had a good Christmas and drove around and looked at lights later that night !

Oh and Ashton got that scooter he asked Santa for ;)

Mommy’s Magic Kisses...

I always anticipate a holiday coming up because more than likely,at least one of us ends up getting sick.Austin was sick on his first birthday,he was sick on Thanksgiving and now it's Ashton's turn.He woke up Sunday morning with rosey red cheeks at the side of my bed saying "mama I'm sick" He was upset because that morning was their celebration birthday party at church so he missed out.I tried to get his fever down and towards the middle of the day he was in better spirits so we went down to my in-laws because we did our Christmas with them,since Luke won't be here this week.He actually did fine over there,Austin too...Ashton didn't eat much which I expected since he wasn't feeling too well but Austin loooved the dressing !
Then of course the dreaded night time comes and all kids get worse...very true.I even read why that happens in my Parents magazine.
Fast forward to this morning around 3am...his fever was 101.4(arm)
So I gave him some more meds to bring his fever down and he wakes up around 7:30am to use the bathroom but tells he's still sleepy so he crawls in bed with me and sleeps until 9isham.I was still so tired because I was up like every 2hrs...2:30-3am with the boys...6am to tell Luke bye,7:30am with Ashton and then 9am with them both.It's 7:25pm and their both in bed though...Ashton had just rested all day.
He took a nap this afternoon and his fever spiked during and it was 103.1(mouth) I just hate he's sick during the holidays.I told him it's three days before Christmas and he said "ohhhh I have to get better" Poor baby ! So far,Austin and I are doing well *crossing fingers* My aunt is having her Christmas Eve party Wednesday night and we haven't been in about 4yrs so we're hoping we're all well by then,and for Christmas Day night when my family does our Christmas.
(((Good news though))) Luke is now back on his regular schedule so he'll be coming home Monday and he'll be here for New Years !

Girl Talk

So one of my friends of several years is expecting !! She's due at the end of May and Thursday night I got a call from her saying they are having...A GIRL ! She had told me before both her and her husband would really like a boy but they are thrilled with having a daughter ! I was sooo excited for them.Around the time I was pregnant with Austin she actually was pregnant but God called the little Angel home.So seeing her glowing and knowing that her pregnancy and baby are healthy,it's such a blessing and I'm just elated for them both,they will be great parents.
Dresses,bows and shoes OH MY...here I come !!

Toothless Wonder ?

No sir ! Tooth #3 has now broke through with #4 right behind it !!

I guess Santa really did give him his two front teeth for Christmas ;)

There's Magic In Believing...

I have been meaning to get these off my camera so while the boys are resting I decided to upload them.These were taken Sunday at our local museum during Family Day. Ashton had a nice little talk with Santa and in return,he got a cool paint set ! We spent the rest of the day making masterpieces !

Christmas is in the air...

Last weekend was a lot of fun and also very busy ! Austin was exhausted since most of the activities were in the middle of his naps.Friday night we enjoyed seeing Old Bethlehem acted out at our Expo Center.We bundled up the boys and I think Ashton really enjoyed it.He knew all about Baby Jesus and loved seeing everything.He enjoyed making bricks,learning to dye yarn and even weaving a blanket !

Saturday morning we took them to our church Christmas party that was complete with pretty decorations,yummy food,a great story and even a visit from Santa ! We have been visiting this church for maybe a month or so and we are really enjoying it.The people are great and very encouraging.

After the party,we were off to a birthday party at the bowling alley !
Ashton loves bowling and even got a strike ! He enjoyed yummy cake,with lovely blue icing...

I'll be home for Christmas...

Why am I sitting downstairs by myself looking at my lit tree and listening to Elvis Presley sing all his Christmas songs with his voice that can make you melt...or cry...one or the other.Heck,it's not even Christmas yet and I'm already getting sappy and upset anticipating Luke not being here.I talked to him tonight and he's still not even sure when he'll be coming home.His work schedule goes one week on,one week off...apparently not for this rig.He's out close to Houston right now and has been since Monday morning and he asked some of the guys that have been there before him and they are going on 11 straight days so far...
He said if he had to,he would come home and just travel the distance but that would mean he would have to turn right back around and leave the next morning...probably like 3am to go right back to work the next day.

One of my friends tonight said it sounds like he's back in the military...funny though because we spent most of our 7yrs in the Air Force without any deployments.One 6mo deployment before children.Makes me wonder if I would have been really cut out to be a military wife :/
We spent Thanksgiving apart...and this would be our first Christmas away from each other.
Hopefully I won't have to be listening to a Blue Christmas in 2wks...

* Bundle Up Tight ! Flurries Tonight *

Snow...a very rare thing here in East Texas,BUT it is calling for 30% tonight.I know it wouldn't be enough to cover the ground and won't even stick since it's been raining and sleeting but just seeing snow in our forecast is enough to bring a smile to my face !
The places we have lived through out our military adventures have already got their first snow fall this year so I wish sometimes we still lived in a winter wonderland *sigh*
I am enjoying the 34 degree weather ~It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas~
The only thing about it though...it's just a cold front because next week we have highs in the 70's *eye roll*

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...

Today as I was playing with Austin and tickling him on our bed I was looking at his big upper gummy smile when I saw TWO white spots.I think our little boy is adding to his collection of pearly whites ! Those two bottom teeth are getting lonely :)

Dear Santa...define "good"

Earlier this week we took a visit to our mall to tell the big man in red what we wanted...

I will have to say Ashton was a trooper though because right before we were sitting at the doctor getting shots,Austin also got shots but we didn't even attempt to have him close to this jolly man because he's not into strangers at all !

Ashton still wanted to go see him though and what's on his list this year you ask ? A big red scooter and moon sand...
