Ladies Night !

So tonight was mom's night out at our mall.It was a lot of fun ! Having adult conversation,eating and even swallowing ! LOL And no whining or runny noses :) No no,don't get me wrong,I love my boys but every parent knows it's healthy to get out every once in awhile and get some time yourself.
First up was a science experiement. "Magic Muck" It's basically mixing corn starch with water and food coloring if you want ((fyi...don't use blue food coloring or you'll end up with smurf hands)) and once you get the starch absorbed with the water,when you hold it,it should be a solid and when you let go,it turns into a liquid again.It was neat but definitely an outside project because it is messy.I will definitely make it with Ashton,but I think the recipe calls for too much water and not enough starch.Next was dinner,we each got a boxed meal with a Chick-fil-a sandwich and chips with a brownie.Our next project was making ice cream ! We paired off and for some reason everyone's worked but...ours ! LOL Not sure what we did wrong but ours never got hard.Another good outside summer project though.
I think one "Wee Wednesday" they are going to let the kids make another project that was in our packet..."Super Sidewalk Paint"

It was fun and the next one will be in March,can't wait !

Three of my five senses are MIA...

So I got a lovely cold a few days after Christmas and guess what...it's still lingering around.At least the sore throat and aches are gone but having ears that are clogged up and not being able to smell anything around you and unable to taste any food is frustrating !
You know how you sound when you plug both of yours ears ? All muffled. That's what I sound like...without holding them.It takes me forever to fall asleep at night because I can't breathe.You better believe I'm still going to Mom's Night Out tonight ! I'm not sick like contagious,so I can still go and have a nice time...hopefully !

Oh yes, wait a minute Mister Postman...

When we moved out of the military on Easter,Luke put in his application for the postal service right away...so that was in March.Well,he got the run around on testing so he took a job with Lockheed Martin.He worked there for about 2mo and then he got on at a drilling rig.Just the other day,my parents call (we still have some mail coming to them) and said Luke had a package from the postal service.It's a packet and test dates for two different positions ! He takes them towards the end of this month so we look at the calendar and he's actually working that week and there's no rescheduling ! So turns out,he works nights and the place where they are testing isn't too far from where they are so he's going to get off work and then go test.He has one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
I'm crossing my fingers he gets this because they pay just as much AND he would be home every night and home for the holidays ! So if your the praying type,can you send up a small request for us please ? I will keep you updated !

5...4...3...2...1...Happy New Year !!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their New Years and is kickin the 2009 year off on a positive note.Our plan was to go over to my parents and just have a low key night with snacks and fireworks but then my parents were feeling sick so we going to go over to Luke's moms but we never got ahold of them soooo we were all feeling better and headed down to Spring New Years Eve to spend it with Lauren and Brad and I'm so glad we did because we had such a good time ! We ordered pizza and played the Wii and later did some fireworks.Had a little incident during the night though.Their neighbors have two black labs that apparently liked chasing the fireworks so we were lighting one of those ones that you drop the balls down into the tube and make the pretty ones...well I was holding Austin and Lauren was holding Ashton and one of the dogs ran over there while it was lit and grabbed it and it exploded and we were all so close ! Everyone including the dog was OK,but I was shaking because all I saw out of the corner of my eye was orange sparks ! After that,Ashton was not having any of that anymore ! He wanted to sit in the car after that,poor guy :( The next night New Years,their neighbors and dogs were gone so it was just us and he enjoyed some sparklers after all :)

We had a good time and headed home Friday afternoon.

Girls Night !

Friday night my sister in law,Lauren ((Best Friend)) and I,had girls night in at my house ! They were in town for Christmas and so when the boys went to bed she came over and brought pizza and we watched The Holiday.It's been awhile since I had girls night in.I would always have it when we lived overseas in Guam.My friend Jennifer and I would always watch movies and order chinese and stay up late and talk.So it was really nice to relax and spend time with Lauren and laugh and talk all night.I think we should do this often :) I had a lot of fun Lauren !!

Festive Family Fun

We were able to attend my aunts Christmas Eve party last night.I brought the boys their gift up there to open since it's our tradition to open one small gift the night before.They both got trains and Ashton loved his Spencer !

The night was going well and then Austin started getting fussy...and warm ((Uh-oh)) He ended up falling asleep on my shoulder while we were playing the white elephant game and he must have been zonked out good because there were about 25 of us and they were loud ! When he woke up,the familiar rosey red cheeks had arrived and the wet sounding cough followed by a runny nose.The day I get one better,the other gets it So we packed up and headed home so I could get them to bed and checked his temp when we got there-102.8...poor little guy ! Oh by the way,I went away with a $10 Starbucks card for my gift...thanks to a little help from my SIL Lauren ;)

Austin's also been walking more so before we left,I stopped to take a picture of him walking to my dad like such a big boy !

My parents were having brunch this morning at their house and my mom is also sick...and now I think I feel a sore throat coming on...but that's how it always starts out when the kids get sick.If we can get over it all before New Years,that will be great ! We did go over and have some brunch and Austin liked the kiche Jenesia made...yum-o ! As I type,the boys are both napping before we head back over there to open presents with my family.So I'm off to clean up the house !

Twas The Night Before Christmas...

It's 3hrs before my aunts Christmas Eve party and folks...I do believe we're going to make it ! Ashton woke up this morning with absolutely no fever and has stayed fever free ! How awesome is that to be feeling better right on Christmas Eve !? I do think Austin has picked up his cough but it's small and no fever in him,so we're crossing our fingers ! My dad's side of the family that is going to be at the party,we never see but only at this time of year at my aunts.Most of them have never even met Austin and they haven't seen Ashton in about 4yrs...I'm excited to go and visit with my cousins,eat good food and play the ever so popular game where you can steal presents...HA !

I'm in the process of trying to get the boys to nap and get some rest before the party.I'm having success with Austin,but I think I'm just getting "rest" time out of Ashton,but hey that's OK too.While they are doing that,I took a break to blog,cleaning the house,washing the dishes,need to get my shower and wrap their Christmas Eve present to unwrap up there.But as I sat here on this Christmas Eve day,with I guess a pleasant temperature of 67 degrees...with the sun streaming through the blinds here in the living room listening to Ave Maria over Austin's monitor...I just thought of my husband and how much we're going to miss him this year through the holiday season.I did inform Ashton that he would be able to be here for fireworks and his expression was just simply priceless.We love and miss you Luke...see you soon !

Well off to be productive !
